Tech the Halls is a nationwide holiday listening party, with the biggest names in tech journalism coming together to throw down on turntable.fm in head-to-head DJ battles. And there's more than just bragging rights on the line: the battles are the finale to a month-long fundraising campaign for One Laptop Per Child, and the money raised will be donated in the winning DJ's name!
If you're reading this, then the answer is: RIGHT NOW. We're counting on you - and the power of crowds and social media - to help us reach our fundraising goal of $10,000. That's 50 laptops for kids! Click here to get involved. Once you've hit that link, be sure to come back on Friday, December 16, from 1-5 EST for the DJ battles.
All of the battles will be held online at turntable.fm - that means you can tune in from anywhere! Check back on this landing page on Friday, December 16 for links to individual match-ups and be ready to support your favorite DJ!

OLPC is an amazing non-profit whose mission is to empower the world's poorest children through education. Specifically, OLPC aims to provide every child with his or her own laptop, wherever they are in the world. Each laptop only costs $199, and our goal is to raise enough money ($10,000) to deliver 50. Help us get there.
First: Join us as we raise money for One Laptop Per Child. Our goal is $10,000 - that's 50 computers for kids - and we're raising the entire amount via social media and crowdsourcing. Even $1 helps. So, hit the link. Donate. And then tell everybody about how awesome it was.
Second: Bookmark this page and follow us at @horngroup for the latest news on match-ups, competitors and special guests.
Third: Camp out on this page on December 16 for the links to your favorite DJ match-ups. We won't release that info until the day of, so you gotta be here to find out.
Try logging in with Twitter - that fixes most problems. And be sure you're logged out of both Facebook and Twitter before trying to access turntable. Most problems do resolve themselves rather quickly, so don't give up! For specific issues, see below:
First, make sure you're completely logged out of Facebook and Twitter. Then, try logging in with Twitter - it's a lot less buggy than Facebook.
If you'd rather use Facebook, make sure you're already logged out of Facebok before accessing turntable. Then, go directly to turntable.fm and try logging in there. You should be directed to the turntable lobby. Once that works, come back to this page and re-click on the link - you should be good to go!
This could be a firewall or blocked-site problem. If you wait thirty seconds, your browser will tell you if it's having trouble connecting.
If you can't hear the music, refresh the page and it should come through loud and clear. If you still can't hear the music, make sure your flash player is up to date!
This could be two things. When someone is playing a long song and you enter mid-song it will take a long time to load, or it could be an error. It's best to refresh.
Email us at techthehalls@horngroup.com if nothing seems to work - we'll do our best to get you in on the party!
